Neuro Surgery
Neurosurgery, or neurological surgery, is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system.
Carotid Endarterectomy
Carotid endarterectomy is a procedure to treat carotid artery disease. This disease occurs when fatty, waxy deposits build up in one of the carotid arteries. The carotid arteries are blood vessels located on each side of your neck (carotid arteries). This buildup of plaque (atherosclerosis) may restrict blood flow to your brain.
Skull Base Neurosurgery
Skull base surgery invasive surgical technique for evaluating, diagnosing and treating benign or cancerous growths located on the underside of the brain, the base of the skull and the upper vertebrae of the spinal column. It can also be advantageous in repairing congenital anomalies and malformations.
Brain Aneurysm Treatment
A brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain. It often looks like a berry hanging on a stem. A brain aneurysm can leak or rupture, causing bleeding into the brain (hemorrhagic stroke). Most often a ruptured brain aneurysm occurs in the space between the brain and the thin tissues covering the brain.
Cerebrovascular Surgery
Damage to the brain from interruption of its blood supply. Symptoms of stroke include trouble walking, speaking and understanding, as well as paralysis or numbness of the face, arm or leg. Early treatment with medication like tPA (clot buster) can minimise brain damage. Other treatments focus on limiting complications and preventing additional strokes.
Stroke Intervention
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced, depriving brain tissue of oxygen and nutrients. Within minutes, brain cells begin to die. A stroke is a medical emergency. Prompt treatment is crucial. Early action can minimize brain damage and potential complications.
Carotid Cavernous Fistula Treatment
When an abnormal connection happens between either of the carotid arteries and the veins just behind the eye, it is called a carotid . Because the carotid arteries have a greater pressure of blood flow than do the veins, the rush of blood prevents the veins that serve the eyes from draining properly. The blood pressure starts to build up in the eye, causing it to bulge. The eye turns red.
Brain Aneurysm Coiling
An aneurysm is a weak area in the wall of an artery which leads to a balloon or pouch formation. The wall of the pouch is thinner than the rest of the artery wall and is at risk of breaking. This type of aneurysm is known as a berry aneurysm, or saccular aneurysm, based on the way it appears. If the aneurysm breaks, then there can be bleeding in the brain. Other types of aneurysms include lateral aneurysm, where a bulge appears along one wall of the artery, or fusiform aneurysm, when the entire artery is enlarged.
Brain Tumor Surgery
A brain tumor is a mass or growth of abnormal cells in your brain. Many different types of brain tumors exist. Some brain tumors are noncancerous (benign), and some brain tumors are cancerous (malignant). Brain tumors can begin in your brain (primary brain tumors), or cancer can begin in other parts of your body and spread to your brain (secondary, or metastatic, brain tumors).
Brain Arteriovenous Fistula Embolization
Dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVFs) are abnormal connections between an artery and a vein in the tough covering over the brain or spinal cord (dura mater). Abnormal passageways between arteries and veins (arteriovenous fistulas) may occur in the brain, spinal cord or other areas of your body. Dural AVFs tend to occur later in life, and they're not typically passed on genetically.
CSF Rhinorrhoea Repair Surgery
A cerebrospinal fluid leak is a condition in which the protective fluid surrounding the brain – the CSF – leaks into the sinuses or the ears. Normally the brain is a sterile compartment that is separated from the sinuses and the ears by a bony separation called the skull base. CSF surrounds the brain and cushions it. A thick, leathery tissue called dura lines the inside of the skull, providing a seal that prevents spinal fluid from escaping. CSF leaks occur when there is a breakdown in this barrier.
Endoscopic Neuro Surgery
Endoscopy is the technique of using a tube with a lens and a light source to look into a body cavity through a small opening. An endoscope is like a small camera that looks at the pathology or problem. The endoscope has a light source and is connected to a monitor. The surgery is performed while looking at the screen and actual target size is magnified more than a 100 times.
Interventional Neuro Radiology
Interventional Neuro Radiology is a specialized field that uses minimally invasive, image-guided techniques to diagnose and treat conditions of the brain, spine, and surrounding blood vessels. It combines advanced radiology with neurosurgical precision to manage complex neurological disorders without traditional open surgery.
